Membership in W.C.A.C.
Membership in W.C.A.C. may be obtained by application to the Association's Secretary, whose address is given at the bottom of this page, and payment of membership dues; new members require Board of Directors approval. Before making application, prospective new members should familiarise themselves with the ideals and breeding guidelines of the Seppala Siberian Sleddog Project, and with the By-Laws of W.C.A.C. (which can be downloaded from this page).
Most particularly those whose ambition is to become SSSD breeders should first become WCAC members and should thoroughly understand the parameters of the SSSD Project before they begin to acquire breeding stock. It is not possible to participate in the breed development project by acquiring and breeding the so-called "percentage Seppalas" from the USA or elsewhere and then trying to obtain WCAC P1 status for them. It is not possible to "dual register" sleddogs as SSSDs and CKC/AKC Siberian Huskies. Dogs that are not wholly descended either from WCAC Parental Generation stock or from pure McFaul/Shearer and/or approved new Siberia import bloodlines cannot normally be given P1 status.
Interested persons are encouraged to read the objectives of WCAC and the canine eligibility rules, to examine the By-Laws, to download, fill out and return the WCAC membership application, and to join the WCAC/ISA news and announcements loop by subscribing to the Yahoo Groups "Seppala Siberian Sleddog" email list. WCAC membership also automatically confers full ISA privileges.
